Lt. General (Ret.) Orit Adato is currently the Chairperson of the Gesher Leadership Institute’s Steering Committee. The GLI nurtures and trains Israeli leaders to forge connections and unity between different sectors of the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora. Orit is the former Chief Commissioner of the Israel Prison Service and former Head of IDF Women’s Corps. She is the founder and director of Adato Consulting Ltd. which provides international consulting on prison management in general and terrorist inmates in particular, as well as radicalisation and extremism, intelligence systems in prisons and cooperation between law enforcement agencies. In this capacity, she has worked with the UN, NATO and various countries around the world. General Adato also served as Vice President of the International Correction and Prisons Association (ICPA), as well as a board member of the Council for Peace and Security-Israel. She has also been a board member, and the President of the International Women Forum – IWF in Israel. Orit is a a research fellow and lecturer in the International Institute For Counter-Terrorism (ICT) in Herzliya. She is also a Member of the Steering Committee of Forum Dvorah: Women in Foreign Policy and National Security. She has a MA in Political Science (with honour) from the National Security College at the University of Haifa.
