Sarai Aharoni

Dr. Sarai Aharoni is a senior lecturer in the Gender Studies Program at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. 


Her research focuses on Women, Peace and Security (WPS),feminist security studies, and histories of women’s policy agencies and feminist movements in Israel. 


She has published articles on gender, peace and conflict in Israel invarious journals and co-edited the book Where Are All the Women? U.N. Security Council Resolution 1325: Gender Perspectives of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict(2004). 


In addition to her academic work, Sarai is a long time scholar-activist. She formed the first project on UNSCR 1325 in Israel (2003), was one of the founding members of the IWC (International Women’s Commission), and has been involved in various women’s initiatives to promote peace since then. 


Sarai is also an active member of the Haifa Feminist Institute (HFI), an independent feminist archive, library and research center that seeks to enhance local feminist voices and histories.
