Ambassador Amira Oron is a senior diplomat with a three-decade career in the Israeli Foreign Service, dedicated to diplomatic activity in the Arab world. During her service, she held a number of positions, and in her last position at the Foreign Ministry, she served as Israel's Ambassador to Egypt (2020-2024). Prior to that, Oron was in charge of the Israeli Embassy in Ankara (2015-2017) and contributed to the significant development and upgrading of relations between Israel and Turkey to ambassadorial level representation. Between 2008-2014, including during the years of the revolution in Egypt, Oron headed the Egyptian desk at the Foreign Ministry and before that she served as the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Israeli government for the Arab media (2003-2014). In this role, she initiated and established the spokesperson's activities and public diplomacy vis-à-vis the Arab world. Furthermore, Oron managed the Department for Economic Affairs in the Middle East (2017-2020), and as part of this, she promoted economic activity with the Palestinian Authority, Egypt, and Jordan.

Oron holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the Hebrew University, as well as a bachelor's degree in Arabic language and literature, and is also an Arabic speaker.
