Shir Peled – The First Female Undercover Combat Soldier in the IDF
Social Entrepreneur and Public Speaker
Shir Peled made history as the first woman to serve as an undercover combat soldier (Mista’arevet) in one of the most elite and challenging IDF units. Her service demanded a dual battle: one against the harsh, unpredictable conditions of field operations, and the other within the unit itself—as a pioneering woman in a traditionally male-dominated and intense environment.
Shir served in the unit for nearly four years, operating in various disguises throughout Jerusalem and the West Bank. Her trailblazing path opened doors for many women to follow in her footsteps.
After more than a decade of silence, Shir is now publicly sharing her remarkable story. Today, she continues to lead change by founding a support network and community for female combat soldiers—before, during, and after their military service—while promoting social discourse and systemic change.
